25.3.15 Y2 Gimmie 5 @ The Oaks

25.3.15 Y2 Gimmie 5 @ The Oaks

After 4 weeks of practise and a morning at Billesley the 7 members of the Multisports team were up for the competition the The Oaks would provide. Their challenge to have fun and try and win back the HollyOaks trophy from their hosts.

The teams were divided into;

Hollywood Blue- Kian C, Daniel R, Joel P and Cody P

Hollywood Red – Emily D, Liam DM and Josh D

They had 10 events that involved basic skills including throwing, catching, running and all worked really hard as you see their faces slowly turn redder and redder as the event went on. Red scored a magnificent 80 catches in 2 minutes and Blues were very accurate at hitting the cricket stump.

At the end of the 10 activities the results were announced and Blues finished 5th and Reds won bringing home the trophy to Hollywood who now have the complete set of Y1,2&3.

Well done everyone.

25.3.15 Netball League Match Vs St Martins

25.3.15 Netball League Match Vs St Martins

We played well and we went 1 nill up in the first quarter. I had lots of chances but narrowly missed as did Kerri, who eventually scored. The second quarter was OK, we passed well but didn’t score as did the other team. The third quarter was not so good, we went one nill up but the other team equalised and then won the quarter 1-4. Finally Amy had been waiting to go goal attack and do what she is good at; scoring goals. She missed someby a narrow margin though. As time was running out Amy finally got what she deserved – a  goal. End score was 2-4 to St Martins. Very one played well and the St Martins coach said we were the better teamand she had been trying to teach her teamall year to play as fluently. Well done everyone, you worked you socks off, including Mrs Devaney who stood in for Mrs Brown and Mr Ryan.

21.3.15 Boys Football Match vs Highters Heath

21.3.15 Boys Football Match vs Highters Heath

On Friday 21st March Hollywood’s football team played again Highters Heath. Despite having 2 men down they played really well. The final score was 2-3 to the opposition due to a lucky goal in the last minute. In the first half Highters scored a sweaty goal but then Jago came storming through and also scored. In the second half Highters kicked off but Jago tackled themand it lead to an amazing goal from Alex. After a while Highters  came through and had a shot but Ethan saved it beautifully which lead to a corner. Highters passed the ball, then crossed it which lead to a cheeky lob for a goal, then is was full time.

18.3.15 Baverstock Netball Competition

18.3.15 Baverstock Netball Competition

On Wednesday, some children went to a netball competition. We won all our games except one which was against Cotteridge. At the end we were joint 1st with Cotteridge. Unfortunately, they won by a few goals. Amazingly we came 2nd. Me Lucy and Kier all got team work badges for our team work. All in all, we played amazingly. We really enjoyed it.

11.3.15 Baverstock Dodgeball competition

11.3.15 Baverstock Dodgeball competition

Hollywood pioneers set out as the first Hollywood dodgeball team, all ready at a disadvantage as the rules had been changed fro Y4/5 to Y5/6.

The other schools had very tall and strong Y6 children but the team held there own in most games. They won 7 of 14 games they played and nearly toppled the overall champions Cotteridge, but unfortunately the 50% win rate was only good enough for 5th on the day of the 6 teams present.

Jake and Ben won special awards for honesty.

Whilst the Girls played their match the boys set about their master plan with coach Jae in the first game since christmas. They exicuted it with precision and style; a 5-1 victory with out really getting out of 2nd gear. People played in a variety of positions during the game and chances were well into double figures, but their goalkeeper prevented it being a complete massacre. Link up play was of a premiership standard times and although the goal keeper and defence rotated, they were never really bothered. Well done, but stay focused boys there will be tougher games ahead.

For once we were David against the Goliath. The girls played well and attacked strongly, coming close on several occasions, but also solid at the back through Emily. She stood strong despite prefering to be a striker and found herself a new home at the heart of the defence. Although the game went backwards and forwards no one to get the breakthrough, so it finished 0-0 and Hollywood now have 1W 1D and 1L from 3 games.

‘It was 3:2 for us on Monday in our netball match. We won yeah! With Saimon scoring 2 in the first quarter, we thought we were lucky. But for the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Our Lady of Lourdes were the lucky ones. Finally in the last quarter it was 2:2, but Amy scored a goal in the last minute.’

6.3.15 Girls Football League

6.3.15 Girls Football League

For only the second time this academic year, Hollywood sent out the girls to play football for the first 2 of 10 planned league games.

They were starting with 2 of the hardest games they could, so were told to go out and enjoy themselves. The first game was against St Bernards and Hollywood were amazing, they were always first to the ball and we avidly cheered on by the supporters from the side. When Eden scored for Hollywood the crowd went wild, but when she scored for the second time the crowd went into delerium. With the final score 2-0 it was the first time in 2 years we had scored more than 1 goal.

Full of enthusiasm, but very tired, They played against an experienced Moseley team unfortunately, although the score read 0-6 the team again played really well and had they been fresh the result very likely different.

On her birthday Lauren Miles reluctantly playing in goal, looked like a professional with some amazing saves and goal kicks, she enjoyed herself so much she wants to play there again.

Well done all team members, supporters and coach Mrs Metcalf. Lauren M, Eden W (2 goals), Lucy PC, Emily H, Poppy W, Sophie S, Lucy H, Kerri F, Evie H.
